PARTIAL PRESSURE VACUUM SINTERING FURNACE FOR BOUND-METAL ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
AI Summary
PROCUREMENT OVERVIEW
The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is seeking proposals for a state-of-the-art partial pressure vacuum sintering furnace. This equipment is essential for the final stage of debinding and sintering of green-state metallic parts produced through various additive manufacturing (AM) processes. The furnace will be used to sinter a range of alloys in a partial-pressure inert atmosphere, converting bound materials into fully dense functional materials. The project aims to enhance the capabilities of NRC’s Advanced Materials Research Facility at the CEI-Mississauga research center.
ISSUING ORGANIZATION
The issuing organization is the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The primary contact for this opportunity is Veronica Exari, who can be reached via email at [email protected].
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Bidders must meet the following mandatory requirements:
- Geographic Restrictions: Only Canadian suppliers and suppliers from applicable trading partners are eligible. Offers from non-trading partner countries will be rejected.
- Technical Specifications: The furnace must meet specific technical requirements outlined in the RFP, including capabilities for thermal debinding and sintering under specified conditions.
- Electrical Compatibility: The equipment must be compatible with existing electrical configurations (3x480VAC/60Hz/50A/27.5 kW).
- Performance Metrics: The furnace must achieve specific temperature uniformity and cooling rates as detailed in the technical specifications.
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
Bidders should possess expertise in:
- Manufacturing and supplying advanced sintering furnace technology.
- Understanding of additive manufacturing processes, particularly those involving polymer binders.
- Ability to provide technical evidence of compliance with the mandatory specifications, including temperature control and debinding capabilities.
DELIVERABLES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
All deliverables must be received no later than two months after the contract award. Bidders are expected to provide a detailed proposal that meets the technical requirements and demonstrates the ability to fulfill the project objectives.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Proposals will be evaluated based on mandatory technical requirements and compliance with the specifications. The primary evaluation criterion is the lowest price, provided that all technical requirements are met.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
While not mandatory, bidders with the following qualifications may have a competitive advantage:
- Experience in delivering similar furnace systems for research and development purposes.
- Familiarity with the specific additive manufacturing processes used by NRC, particularly Lithography-based Ceramic and Metal Manufacturing.
- Additional certifications or standards compliance that enhance the credibility of the proposal.
This summary encapsulates the essential information required for potential bidders to assess their fit for this opportunity.
