Notice is hereby given by the Corporation of the District of North Cowichan (DNC) of its intent to directly award Crofton Lake Dam Geotechnical Investigation Work Plan to Thurber Engineering Limited. The Crofton Lake Dam consists of a main dam and a “saddle” dam originally constructed in the 1950’s based on an engineered design for earth dams. The main dam is about 220 metres long and the saddle dam is about 150 metres long. The dams range from about 1.5 metres to about 5 metres in height. It’s probable that much of the saddle dam predates the 1950’s.
