Description

In 2021, the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) launched a regional edible food recovery program designed to assist San Gabriel Valley cities with SB 1383 compliance mandates. This program, FRESH SGV – Food Recovery for Equity, Sustainability and Health in the San Gabriel Valley – optimizes the recovery of surplus edible food to decrease food waste, address food insecurity, and support Cities' compliance with state mandates. Known as one of the largest regional food recovery programs in California, FRESH SGV currently provides education, outreach, inspection, enforcement, and regional food recovery capacity services for participating jurisdictions.
The SGVCOG is seeking proposals from qualified firms to continue to provide program services through June 2028. Program activities will be conducted in partnership with participating jurisdictions including the cities of Azusa, Baldwin Park, Covina, Duarte, Glendora, Irwindale, La Canada Flintridge, Monrovia, Pomona, Rosemead, San Gabriel, South El Monte, South Pasadena, Temple City, Walnut and West Covina.
