National Research Council of Canada (NRC)
CanadaBuys Posted: May 28, 2026

AI Summary

PROCUREMENT OVERVIEW:

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is seeking proposals for a state-of-the-art partial pressure vacuum sintering furnace. This equipment is essential for the final stage of debinding and sintering of green-state metallic parts produced through various additive manufacturing (AM) processes. The furnace will facilitate the sintering of multiple alloys in a controlled inert atmosphere, converting bound materials into fully dense functional materials. The project aims to enhance the capabilities of NRC’s Advanced Materials Research Facility located at the CEI-Mississauga research centre.

  • Integrity Provisions: Compliance with the Integrity Regime as administered by Public Services and Procurement Canada is required.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:

Bidders must demonstrate expertise in the following areas:

  • Ability to provide a furnace capable of debinding and sintering under specified conditions.
  • Experience with systems that can achieve necessary heating and cooling requirements, including cooling from operating temperatures above 1380 °C to below 200 °C within specified timeframes.
  • Capability to operate in a vacuum and inert gas atmosphere, with acceptable temperature uniformity.

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Proposals will be evaluated based on the lowest evaluated price while meeting all mandatory technical criteria. Compliance with the requirements is essential for consideration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

While not mandatory, bidders with the following qualifications may have a competitive advantage:

  • Experience with similar furnace systems and additive manufacturing processes.
  • Technical evidence supporting the proposed solution’s compliance with performance requirements.
